Reichhold Announces Price Increases for Unsaturated Polyester Resins

11-Apr-2002

Reichhold announces a general price increase for all of its unsaturated polyester resins and gel coats. The increase amount will be $0.04 per pound in North America, 100 Euro per metric tonne in Europe and equivalent increases in other regions. These increases are already being implemented globally.

The key factor influencing Reichhold’s decision to increase prices is the rising cost of raw materials, chiefly styrene and other petroleum-based ingredients.

“Oil prices have escalated sharply in the past few weeks, matching the highs seen last summer,” explains Alex Car, vice president of sales for Reichhold’s Global Composites business. “Even more importantly, styrene has also seen significant price hikes in recent weeks. It has been quite some time since Reichhold implemented a price increase,” Car continues. “However, we are no longer able to completely absorb 100 percent of the escalating costs we have experienced in recent months.”

Reichhold is the world’s largest producer of unsaturated polyester resins for composites with 18 manufacturing facilities in 11 countries. For more information on the markets Reichhold serves, visit www.Reichhold.com.
