LANXESS increases prices for basic chemicals

26-Jun-2009 - Germany

The Basic chemicals business unit of specialty chemicals company Lanxess is increasing its prices worldwide for its entire product portfolio by a minimum of seven per cent with immediate effect. The primary factors behind this measure are higher raw material and energy expenses. Torsten Hauschild, Head of Marketing in the Basic Chemicals business unit (BAC), said: “The recent development in oil prices is resulting in significant higher costs for energy as well as for related raw materials.”

The main product groups are chlorobenzenes, chlorotoluenes and cresols, nitrotoluenes, polyols and oxidation products (e.g. trimethylolpropane, 1,6-hexanediol, maleic anhydride), benzyl products (e.g. benzylchloride, benzylalcohol, benzoylchloride) and inorganic acids (e.g. hydrofluoric acid).
