Dow Corning CEO Burns discusses U.S. energy policies at National Clean Energy Summit 2.0

12-Aug-2009 - USA

Dow Corning Corp. Chairman, President and CEO Stephanie A. Burns is a panelist at National Clean Energy Summit 2.0: Jobs and the Green Economy hosted by the Center for American Progress Action Fund, U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

The summit’s goal is to engage a small, select group of the highest-level leaders from government, business, labor and non-profit organizations to discuss the transformation of United States’ energy policies. The panelists will discuss opportunities to build a national commitment to create jobs, save consumers money and drive investments into clean energy technology and energy efficiency.

“The sun is waiting. We are only beginning to innovate around photovoltaics, silicones and solar technology,” Burns said in advance of the event. “Market demand is driving this innovation – with the U.S. engaging as an emerging market, we can call it truly global demand. By this time next year, technological advances will include new materials that enable the longer-lasting, higher efficiency solar devices of the future – which will move solar technology even closer to being cost competitive with traditional energy sources.”

Other participants at the event include former Vice President Al Gore, energy executive T. Boone Pickens, and White House Council on Environmental Quality Special Advisor Van Jones.
