14-May-2002

Singapore - At LabelExpo Asia 2002 on June 4-6, Dow Corning will highlight SYL-OFF® 7590 High Solid Release Coating System, a 50 percent solid, solvent-based product and one of the newest members in the SYL-OFF® brand silicone release coating line from Dow Corning that offers a comprehensive range of base coatings, crosslinkers and additives, to help customers be competitive in the marketplace.

"Our goal is to continue to innovate and provide our customers with world-class solutions and expertise," said Bee Yung, marketing and sales manager for Dow Corning's Paper and Pressure Sensitive industry in Asia. Dow Corning representatives will be available to discuss the benefits of its global SYL-OFF® brand product line and other paper products during LabelExpo Asia, at the Dow Corning booth number C2 in the Singapore Expo Center Hall 2.

SYL-OFF® 7590 is a user-friendly product that can be used on all commonly available substrates using existing coating machines with minor adjustments. The product is designed to be used as a three- component system with SYL-OFF® 4000 Catalyst and offers superior bath life and anchorage property when used with SYL-OFF® 7599 Crosslinker providing stable, low-release performance. Features of SYL-OFF® 7590 are high-solid content, controllable cure rates, low-release force, non-blocking and minimal post-cure requirement. The coating is inert against SBR adhesives and performs well with hot melts and many acrylics.

In addition to highlighting SYL-OFF® 7590, Dow Corning will continue to promote its SYL-OFF® 7680 Solventless series which offers a broad range of release modification. This series is a new technology platform in thermal cure, solventless release coatings systems and is well suited for label and tape production. The series offers customers two families to choose from including the Optimized Productivity Family and the Premium Performance Family. The product line demonstrates significantly improved efficiency, including increased speed, output and quality consistency compared to traditional systems.

Also in the SYL-OFF® brand product line, Dow Corning will feature its SYL-OFF® High Speed Crosslinkers that significantly reduce misting during the silicone release coating process, permitting higher line speeds and more profitable operations. "With SYL-OFF® High Speed Crosslinkers, we have achieved speeds of 700 meters per minute without any visible mist and without compromising coating performance," said Yung.
