The increases are effective July 1, 2002, and apply to North America and Latin America.
Additionally, the company is removing temporary allowances on list prices of certain oxo alcohols and aldehydes. Effective July 1, 2002, the following temporary allowances will be removed:
Eastman isobutyl alcohol - US$0.05 per pound Eastman n-butyl alcohol - US$0.05 per pound Eastman n-propyl alcohol - US$0.05 per pound Eastman 2-ethylhexanol - US$0.07 per pound.
The company reports that the price increase is due to the tightness of supply in the market, to increased raw material costs and to move margins toward more acceptable levels.
Eastman oxo alcohols and oxo aldehydes are used as chemical intermediates and solvents in a variety of applications.
