29-May-2002
Borealis announced today a number of changes to the polyolefins organisation which will strengthen its sales and marketing capability and enhance its leadership position in key polyolefin market areas. The number of specialist business units focused on innovation to create and deliver value to its customers has been extended to five with the Formation of Film & Fibre and Moulding complementing the existing Wire & Cable, Pipe and Engineering Applications units. These business units will be located in Belgium, Sweden and Austria to give balanced proximity to markets and skill centres. A new Commercial services unit has also been created to serve and develop our customer base in the volume oriented, export and distribution markets. Customer Service will be streamlined around seven new centres able to support, with their broad geographic base and multilingual capability, customers located in all parts of Europe. These customer service centres, located in Finland, Sweden, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Italy and Spain will be operational later in 2002. Polyolefins general management will relocate to the existing Mechelen, Belgium offices during the summer in order to be well positioned for the market and in close proximity to key European institutions and trade associations. A revised innovation process, core to the Borealis commitment to create and deliver value to customers, will also be launched in the second half of 2002 and this will enhance the speed to market and customer satisfaction of new products and services. “These changes demonstrate our clear intent to deliver our strategy, and reinforce the position of Borealis as a leader in the polyolefin industry committed to the role that innovation must play in creating value and growth,” says David Rolph, Executive Vice President Polyolefins.
