BASF to raise prices for acrylic acid and acrylic esters and for its Ultraform

28-Jun-2002

Further to the price increase announced a few weeks ago, BASF will once again be raising its prices for acrylic acid and acrylic esters worldwide by at least an additional 125 Euro per metric ton as of July 1, 2002. BASF is taking this measure in order to respond to the continuing unsatisfactory profit situation.

BASF is the world's largest manufacturer of acrylic acid and acrylic esters. The most significant resultant products are superabsorbents - the absorbent component found in hygienic articles such as, for example, diapers - as well as dispersions for the adhesives, construction and paper industries.

BASF increases the prices for its Ultraform

On July 1st this year, BASF will increase the prices for its Ultraform® (POM) in Europe by 200 Euro per metric ton. This measure is due to the still unsatisfactory margin situation.

BASF markets its range of polyoxymethylene-copolymers under the trade name Ultraform®. These engineering polymers are characterized by a combination of high rigidity, mechanical strength, good elastics properties and excellent sliding friction properties. Ultraform is used in vehicle construction, office, household and industrial applications like valves and gear wheels.
