Clariant acquires Oberhausen Technology Center (OTC)

Acquisition is part of company strategy to develop and strengthen ICS portfolio

27-Oct-2011 - Germany

Clariant has acquired German company Oberhausen Technology Center (OTC) to further strengthen its Industrial & Consumer Specialties Business Unit (ICS). Financial details of the acquisition are not being disclosed. The move comes less than two months after Clariant announced a long term partnership of its ICS business with Kitozyme, a leading manufacturer of biopolymers for personal care applications.

OTC is a privately owned company, providing formulation expertise to transform new sustainable and innovative technologies into cost efficient consumer products. OTC has a leading position in development of delivery technologies for micronized active ingredients, which offer customers in consumer care markets innovative solutions in cosmetic, food or other application areas.

Michael Willome, Head of Clariant’s ICS Business Unit, says the deal fits perfectly with Clariant’s strategy of gaining strong positions in new and rapidly developing fields. “OTC gives us an entry into advanced delivery systems for actives and provides us with access to innovative formulation technologies, complementing our own portfolio. That will allow our customers to further differentiate their portfolio and service offerings.
