Munich/Heufeld, 20 September 2002 - With an official ceremony,
Süd-Chemie AG, Munich celebrated completion of the extension to its catalyst works at the traditional Heufeld site near Rosenheim. Following today´s official opening, the Heufeld plant will be the central European research and
production location for
catalysts. The investment volume for the construction work, which has been underway since 1998, amounted to more than EUR 35 million. "It is not without good reason that Süd-Chemie ranks among the world´s leading manufacturers of
catalysts. Its investment in the catalyst plant and the
research facilities in Heufeld will ensure Süd-Chemie an excellent position in the years to come," stressed Bavaria´s Minister of Economic Affairs, Dr. Otto Wiesheu, in his formal address before some one hundred guests.
By concentrating catalyst activities at one single site, 64 new jobs will be created in Heufeld. "This means that even in difficult economic times, Süd-Chemie nevertheless makes a substantial contribution to securing jobs in Bavaria," said Dr. Jürgen F. Kammer, Chairman of the Managing Board at Süd-Chemie AG.
The Vice Chancellor of the Technical University of Munich, Professor Wolfgang A.
Herrmann, paid tribute to Süd-Chemie´s positive attitude towards scientific innovation, which could not be demonstrated anywhere better than in the field of
catalysis, the technology of the future - a Bavarian
trademark around the world.
