Eastman Increases Specialty Acids and Anhydrides Prices

Eastman Chemical Company announced an increase of US$0.02 per pound for list and off-list prices for all grades of Eastman specialty acids and anhydrides. The increase is effective Jan. 1, 2003, globally and includes:

Eastman n-Butyric Acid

Eastman n-Butyric Acid, Kosher

Eastman Isobutyric Acid

Eastman Propionic Anhydride

Eastman Propionic Anhydride, Kosher

Eastman n-Butyric Anhydride

Eastman n-Butyric Anhydride, Kosher

Eastman Isobutyric Anhydride

Eastman Isobutyric Anhydride, Kosher

The company reports that the increases are due to increased costs, particularly energy and raw materials costs.

Eastman specialty acids are offered primarily as a reactant in beverages. Eastman specialty anhydrides are used primarily in chemical processing and as a chemical intermediate. Eastman specialty acids and anhydrides can be found in flavorings, fragrance intermediates and pharmaceuticals.
