CyPlus, a wholly-owned company of
Degussa AG,
Germany, and
Inco Technical
services Limited, Mississauga,
Canada, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Inco Limited, have announced the product launch of their newly developed
cyanide destruction process. CombinOx is a process that takes advantage of synergies between Inco's SO2/AIR process and Degussa's peroxygen technologies. The technology is available exclusively through
CyPlus.
The venue for the market entry of the new technology was the INDABA 2003 Investing in African Mining Conference. In his presentation, Dr. Eric Devuyst, Vice President of Inco Tech, described the key advantage of the new process as: "It's flexibility to accommodate changes in feed
chemistry, by offering Process Balancing". Depending on site-specific conditions, the process offers capital savings over traditional Inco plants and operating savings over both Inco and Caros technology.
The year 2002 marked the "testing and confirmation period" of the new process. To date, various mining companies have shown interest in the process, and several laboratory test programs have been completed. The tests confirm the ability of the process to deliver low endpoint residuals for both
cyanide and heavy metal
chemistry. "The debut of the new CombinOx process," says Frank Harenburg, Managing Director of CyPlus, "highlights the innovation and performance potential of the just emerged CyPlus company. The state-of-the-art process allows Inco Tech and us to make a major contribution to sustainable development in the
mining industry." CyPlus offers a complete range of
technical services in support the new CombinOx process.
