Transwide reinforces its leadership position in European eLogistics and launches its new Carrier On-boarding Suite
Offers carriers information sharing solution at no cost
March 5th, 2003 - Over the past three years, Transwide has reinforced its leadership position by offering innovative solutions to meet the increasingly demanding needs of the European land transportation industry. Transwide has rapidly gained substantial liquidity and financial stability. Savings realised through changes in its ERP connectivity strategy, enable Transwide to launch its Carrier On-boarding Suite, which enables carriers to access Transwide at no cost.
Transwide is the European leader in enabling shippers and carriers to better collaborate during transport execution. With about 100 European customers, Transwide focuses on the chemicals, paper, consumer packaged goods (CPG), minerals, metals and automotive industries. The solutions are dedicated to solving specific European transport execution issues and are endorsed by major European trucking associations. Transwide is a neutral solution provider and develops functionalities to benefit shippers and carriers equally.
Transwide ' s major shareholder is Wolters Kluwer who has been investing for over 15 years to digitize transport information. Transwide, in combination with the eLogistics activities of Wolters Kluwer, operates the largest eLogistics solution in Europe. The combined platforms currently employ more than 230 people in 19 European countries, with 35,000 users, processing tens of millions of transactions to facilitate the transportation of hundreds of millions of tons of goods per year. Transwide's platform currently offers shippers and carriers:
1. functionalities to improve customer satisfaction and supply chain visibility through pro-active warnings on delays and non-conformities;
2. functionalities to increase process efficiencies through reduced manual input, better accuracy, reduced errors and better exception management;
3. state-of-the-art connectivity solutions and a dedicated connectivity team to link up any shipper or carrier IT system;
4. a dedicated team of logistics and legal experts to address issues surrounding European electronic road transport information exchange.
Shippers are increasingly asking Transwide to provide direct ERP connections, eliminating the need of a third party connectivity hub. This results in a lower overall cost of the solution for clients. Transwide will pass on the related savings to its clients by offering carriers a new Carrier On-boarding Suite. This suite enables carriers to access Transwide' s twCall-off and twDoc functionalities free of charge. And since no specific or dedicated hardware is required for the Carrier On-boarding Suite, carriers can now meet the information sharing requirements of their shippers at no cost.
