Great Lakes Announces Price Increase for a Broad Range of Brominated Flame Retardants

Great Lakes Chemical Corporation announced announced a worldwide price increase of 10 percent for all brominated flame retardants, effective for shipments after April 7, 2003, or where contracts allow.

Prices will increase for the Great Lakes range of brominated flame retardants and derivatives including:

Dibromostyrene ... Great Lakes PBS(TM) and Great Lakes PDBS(TM)

Tetrabromophthalic anhydride ...Great Lakes PHT-4(TM) and Great Lakes PHT4-DIOL(TM)

Hexabromocyclododecane ... Great lakes CD-75(TM) series

Tetrabromobisphenol A ... Great Lakes BA-59P(TM)

Octabromodiphenyl oxide ...Great Lakes DE-79(TM)

Tribromophenol additives ... Great Lakes PH-73(TM) The company stated that the new pricing is a result of recent, sharp increases in key raw materials and energy costs.

The price will not increase for pentabromodiphenyl oxide (Great Lakes DE-60F(TM) SPECIAL) or decabromodiphenyl oxide (Great Lakes DE-83R(TM)), as prices for these products were increased on October 16, 2002, and January 15, 2003, respectively.
