CyBio buys Combitech: entry into the service business

03-Apr-2001 - Germany
CyBio AG, based in Jena, has purchased the British service and sales company Combitech, which has already been active as a CyBio sales partner for the Scandinavian market during the last two and half years. As a result of the just completed link to the marketing subsidiary CyBio UK Inc., all Northern European business is now controlled directly by the biotech group. At the same time, the service segment for fully-automated laboratory systems is being expanded on a huge scale: Combitech makes 75 percent of its turnover in the service sector, 25 percent via sales. In this way, the management is forcefully implementing the company strategy of opening up new market segments and expanding their own international sales. At the same time their strategic position in the important British market will be strengthened, as Combitech has longstanding relationships with internationally-renowned pharmaceutical companies in Great Britain. The purchase of Combitech includes the assumption of their regular staff as well as managing director Ian Causton. This results in a total of ten people responsible for service and sales in Great Britain. The merging of CyBio UK and Combitech will be completed by the middle of the year. The marketing subsidiary will then change its name to CyBio Northern Europe Ltd. and serve the markets in Great Britain, the Benelux countries and Scandinavia. Due to contractual arrangements, financial details cannot yet be released.
