Change in Management at EC

With effect from 01 April 2001 Rudy Blyweert has taken over the duties of Managing Director at EC Erdölchemie GmbH (EC), Cologne-Worringen. The 51 year old BP Manager succeeds Rudi Demeuse (53). Mr. Demeuse had served on the Management of EC, a 50/50 subsidiary of Bayer AG and Deutsche BP AG, since May 1999. Before this he had carried out a variety of management duties for the chemical companies, Petrofina, Ethyl, Albermarle and recently for Amoco. Mr. Demeuse’s future role will be as Vice President Marketing for the BP chemicals Business. Based at Sunbury (UK), he will be responsible for the regional and global marketing of the business. Mr. Blyweert was born in 1949 and is a Belgian national. A graduate in chemical engineering, he began his career in 1973 at Union Carbide Corporation in Antwerp, Belgium. In 1979 he moved to BP where since then he has worked in the production, planning and management of the Oil and Chemicals Businesses at locations in Belgium, the UK and in Switzerland. Until the middle of last year Mr. Blyweert was responsible Europe-wide for the polyethylene business. In addition to this he represented BP’s interests, holding seats on a number of Supervisory Boards in Belgium and Germany. Since the end of March 2001 Mr. Blyweert has also been a member of the Board of Deutsche BP AG, Hamburg. Mr. Blyweert is married and has four children.
