Rhodia presents the new organization of its Enterprises

21-Nov-2003

Paris, November 20, 2003 - At today's meeting of the European Works Council, Rhodia initiated the procedure whereby employees' representatives are kept informed about the new organization for the Group's Enterprises and the plan to redeploy support functions located within the European zone.

In accordance with the change in direction announced October 3, necessitated by the Group's economic situation, and the subsequent statements made October 30, these measures aim to streamline and simplify the Group's structures and to reorganize the support functions into shared services platforms in order to optimize the competitiveness of these activities.

The plan would affect all support functions and result in a reduction in the number of employees by a projected 984 positions worldwide, including 728 in Europe.

These initial measures form an integral part of the cost-cutting plan designed to achieve savings of approximately 120 million euros as of 2005, with full-year savings of 165 million euros in 2006.

Following this initial consultation, the information/consultation process at the European level and by country will go forward. In this framework, a meeting will be held December 10 with the French Works Council and January 23, 2004 with the European Works Council.
