Air Liquide signs new agreements with the Dow Chemical Company and with Union Carbide Corporation

10-Dec-2003

Air Liquide has recently signed separate agreements with The Dow Chemical Company and Union Carbide Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dow, to serve a portion of both Dow and Union Carbide's respective operations in the United States. Under the terms of these agreements, Air Liquide will supply approximately 5000 tons per day of oxygen and nitrogen combined to Dow's facilities in Plaquemine, Louisiana and Union Carbide's facilities in Taft, Louisiana and Seadrift, Texas.

Resulting from these new long-term service contracts, Air Liquide will construct a new pipeline to Seadrift, Texas, and integrate what was previously Union Carbide's oxygen and nitrogen operations at Taft, Louisiana, into Air Liquide's network. To optimize the supply of these gases, Air Liquide will invest approximately $40 million.

Commenting on this new agreement, Pierre Dufour, Executive Vice President, said: "We have a long record and strong relationship with Union Carbide and with Dow. And through these new agreements, each of the companies will benefit from improved operational efficiencies."
