BOC launches Scientific brand

12-Dec-2003

BOC has unveiled a new business brand to meet the needs of the global scientific community in a market worth more than £700 million.

BOC Scientific brings together an existing product range of certified calibration gas mixtures, instrumentation gases and gas control equipment for analytical applications. It will also include high value, high purity gases and specialist gas mixtures for quality critical manufacturing processes and life-sustaining breathing applications.

Stephen Harrison, global director, BOC Scientific, said: "For a number of years our products have been marketed under different business brands in different countries. It was felt this was such an important sector that it was right to bring some cohesion to the business, and this was one of the motivations behind the creation of BOC Scientific."

The new brand will be launched globally from the beginning of 2004, providing a new focus for customers and signalling a more consistent approach to an important market area. The business brand will focus on serving the needs of the scientific community in a broad range of industries, such as petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, automotive, environmental monitoring and research.

The brand name, BOC Scientific, was chosen after extensive market trials across the globe to find the name that best matched customer expectations.

Stephen added: "The beauty of this name, which gives out all the right quality signals, is that we are not restricting ourselves to the provision of just one product area. BOC Scientific will provide us with a platform to develop what we can offer our customers across services, gases and equipment, where the potential for growth is substantial.

"This market is highly specialised and demands products that undergo stringent production processes and are subject to meticulous attention to detail. It is vital that the quality of our products satisfies our customer's needs, and BOC Scientific will give our customers real confidence that we can meet these needs precisely."
