Albemarle to Market Minmetals' Antimony Trioxide in U.S.

Albemarle Corporation and China Antimony Chemicals Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Minmetals Nonferrous Metals Co., Ltd. (Minmetals), have formed a strategic alliance to market antimony trioxide in the United States. Under the alliance, Albemarle will use its existing sales channels to sell BRIGHTSUN(TM) antimony trioxide produced by Minmetals' ISO9001 certified manufacturing facility in Nanning, Guangxi, China. Minmetals is one of the leading producers of antimony trioxide in the world. Antimony trioxide is a highly effective flame retardant synergist used with bromine-based flame retardants such as Albemarle's SAYTEX(R) flame retardants, other halogen-based flame retardants and halogen-containing resins. Antimony trioxide is also used as a polymer catalyst for the production of polyesters.
