01-Jul-2004
Kemira will increase its production capacity for hydrogen peroxide at the plant in Helsingborg, Sweden by investing in a de-bottlenecking project that will be finalized by the end of the year 2004. Including a smaller similar improvement carried out this spring at Kemira's Europoort plant in the Netherlands, the company's hydrogen peroxide capacity will increase by more than 10 000 tons p.a., adding to Kemira's current world-wide capacity which is 240 000 tons p.a. - The market situation for hydrogen peroxide has improved steadily in the last few years, and the expansion will allow us to meet our customers' growing demands, explains Mikael Kvist, Vice President, Bleaching chemicals. - The increased capacity for hydrogen peroxide strengthens our position as a leading supplier of pulp and paper chemicals with the competence to offer complete solutions, he says. The strategic geographical position of Helsingborg allows Kemira to cover both the Nordic market and to supply customers in continental Europe when needed. In addition to Helsingborg, Kemira has hydrogen peroxide production plants in Oulu Finland, Europoort the Netherlands, Maitland Canada, Ulsan South Korea and Ube Japan (50%).
