WACKER Launches Web Shop for Silicone Customers

20-Jul-2004

The Munich-based WACKER Group has launched a new web shop. To order products online around the clock from anywhere in the world, registered WACKER SILICONES customers can access the online shop via https://buyonline.wacker.com. Registration is free and requires no further investments on the part of the customer. In addition to providing individualized product, price and delivery information, the shop allows customers to contact WACKER experts for quick and competent answers to questions on products, applications and other topics.

The new web shop's most noticeable feature is an individualized product catalog giving customers online access to essential information such as product order numbers and quantities, container sizes, availability, product data sheets and prices. After the customer selects a product and desired delivery date, it takes just a mouse click to complete the order. And the order's status and expected delivery date can now also be tracked online.

"The web shop offers our customers an even broader range of services, thereby enhancing our competitive edge," states Bernd Judas, head of E-Business at WACKER SILICONES. To help customers quickly get to the right spot in the new web shop, one of the top priorities was an intuitive user interface. "The shop's around-the-clock availability and ease of use," Judas continues, "is designed to provide customers with tangible added value."

The new web shop is another key pillar in WACKER's electronic sales and distribution network. Since February 2003, the Munich-based chemical company has been offering its customers the use of ELEMICA, an e-business platform popular in the raw materials sector. WACKER also collaborates with customers and partner enterprises in providing numerous extranet solutions for data and information exchange. With its e-business strategy, WACKER meets customers' needs by expanding online services and establishing new electronic sales venues.
