GE Toshiba Silicones Opens State-of-Art Silicones Plant in Shanghai

GE Toshiba silicones, one of the world's major silicone manufacturers, announced today that it has started full-scale commercial production at its silicones plant in the Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone in Shanghai. The US$25 million plant will manufacture a wide range of high quality silicones products including silicone rubber, sealant, oil emulsion and resin and specialties. The new Shanghai plant will serve local customers in China mainland and Hong Kong in industries such as consumer, personal care, electrical/electronics, appliances and textiles. Wayne Hewett, President and CEO of GE Toshiba Silicones said, "We have high hopes for our state-of-the-art facility in Shanghai. This investment in China will give us the opportunity to fulfill the needs of our local customers with speed and quality. Supported by 30-year success with GE Toshiba Silicones in Japan, we believe our Shanghai plant will add value to customers through a broad range of value added, highly differentiated products."
