Francis J. Lunger Elected C.E.O. of Millipore
Mr. Lunger assumes the role of C.E.O. from C. William Zadel, who remains the Chairman of the Board of Millipore.
Mr. Zadel commented: "We have had a smooth transition in leadership as we have separated Millipore into two companies, one focused on bioscience (Millipore), and one focused on microelectronics (Mykrolis). I am very pleased that the Board has elected Fran to the role of C.E.O. of Millipore, and has also elected him to the Millipore Board of Directors. Millipore has a new direction and focus thanks in large part to Fran's energy and leadership. I look forward to working with Fran in his new role."
Mr. Lunger joined Millipore in June, 1997 as Chief Financial Officer and was named Chief Operating Officer in January, 2000. He was elected President in April, 2001. Lunger came to Millipore from Oak Industries, Inc. in Waltham, Massachusetts, a developer, manufacturer and supplier of active and passive components to the telecommunications industry, where he was Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to that he was acting Chief Executive Officer and the Chief Administrative Officer of Nashua Corporation (NYSE: NSH), a conglomerate with diverse businesses ranging from office supplies to photo finishing.
Mr. Lunger also served in a variety of financial and operating positions including an eleven year tenure at Raychem Corporation in Menlo Park, California, an international material science company serving the telecommunication, automotive, energy and defense markets. At Raychem he held a number of positions including Vice President of Finance and Vice President and Group General Manager. Prior to joining Raychem he spent eight years at Baxter Healthcare in Deerfield, Illinois in a variety of positions ranging from Corporate Controller to Vice President of Travenol Home Health Care. Prior to that period he was associated with the accounting firm of Arthur Andersen & Co. in Chicago, Illinois.
Mr. Lunger holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Gannon University in Erie, PA. and is a certified public accountant. He served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970. He resides in Andover, Massachusetts with his wife and three children.
