New Sales and Marketing Center for Degussa's Electronic Materials Product Line in Xinzhuang

Degussa AG, Dusseldorf, is concentrating its Asian activities for Electronic Silanes (of the Electronic Materials Product Line) in Xinzhuang, Shanghai, China. The specialty chemicals group is transferring to Xinzhuang its worldwide sales and marketing center for direct deliveries to its semiconductor customers. This was announced by Degussa in a seminar for leading Chinese manufacturers. "As a result of these strategic decisions, we have now become the number one supplier to local electronics firms, thanks to our proximity to Chinese semiconductor producers, all of whom are located in the Yangtze Delta," says Dr. Harald Klein, who will head the center. "We can offer ideal support at attractive prices. This puts us in a position to significantly accelerate the growth of Degussa's electronics materials and to establish ourselves as one of the large players in this high-tech segment." In addition to marketing existing products, Degussa is intensifying work on the development of new materials. These are developed by Degussa's subsidiary Creavis, which collaborates closely with the Electronic Materials Product Line to profit from market knowledge and customer contacts and, most importantly, to allow customer needs to flow into development as early as possible. The product line has production sites in Europe (Rheinfelden), the U.S. (Mobile), and Asia (Yokkaichi, Japan). Because of the widely differing regional distribution of the electronics industry, which in the future will be focused on Asia rather than the U.S., as at present, special importance is being given to these two markets.
