Reichhold Announces List & Off-List Price Increases on Liquid Coating Resins Sold in North America

17-Oct-2005

Reichhold announced price increases for solvent, water-based and water-reducible coating resins.

Specific increases include prices on all solvent-borne acrylics, alkyd and polyester resins, oil-modified urethanes, epoxy resins and epoxy esters and polyurethane dispersions, which will go up $ 0.06 - 0.10 per pound. Epoxy curing agents will increase 6%. The precise amount of the increase will be determined based on the effect of the raw materials on the specific chemistries.

According to Tony Rende North America Coatings Business Director, "Reichhold and the resin industry in general continue to experience very tight raw material supply and a dramatic increase in the price for petroleum and natural gas based raw materials. The steep rise in natural gas has also increased the overall cost of manufacturing. Based on the forecasts for these feed stocks and the in-use capacity of our suppliers, we do not expect any near term relief from this situation. Reichhold continues to look at ways to mitigate these increases, however at this time we are left with no choice but to pass along these unprecedented raw materials price increases."
