PTT-Mitr Phol-Thai Alcohol Agree on Molasses and Ethanol Deal
The main issue of the MOU, which marks a significant national incorporation among the three parties, is that Mitr Phol Group and Thai Alcohol will produce a total of 160,000 tonne of molasses as raw material to produce 40 million litre of 99.5% ethanol for PTT to eventually produce "PTT Gasohol 95 Plus."
Apart from the responsibilities as national energy securer and oil price crisis healer, PTT has been cooperating with the government to encourage the public to use Gasohol Octane 95 instead of gasoline. The ethyl alcohol mixed fuel has later gained popularity among the people, revealed Dr. Krisanapol.
PTT, in conjunction with Mitr Phol Group, Thailand's largest sugar producer and exporter, and Thai Alcohol Plc., the country's leading ethanol producer, has enforced the potential and stability of Gasohol Octane 95 production and distribution for Thai people to use sustainably as a substitute fuel. Not only could the fuel be produced locally but it also helped reduce the imported fuels and MTBE octane enhancer.
