Ciba specialty chemicals further strengthens its presence in Asia with the opening of a new production plant and regional technical and training center for its Textile Effects segment. Situated in the Panyu district of Guangzhou, PR China, the plant will have around 100 employees.

“This new site underlines our commitment to Asia, a region with excellent growth potential. This site is part of our continuing investment in building up of both state of the art facilities and expertise close to our customers,” Chairman and CEO of Ciba Specialty Chemicals, Armin Meyer, stated at the opening on November 7.

Armin Meyer continued by outlining Ciba’s capabilities in China: “Our new Panyu site extends our already strong presence in China, where we have further manufacturing facilities in Shanghai, Qingdao, Guangzhou and Shenzen.”

The Panyu production plant will manufacture textile chemicals for supply to markets in the Asia Pacific region. The range of over 20 products manufactured includes pretreatment, finishing, solid grade softener and dying and printing auxiliaries.

The Regional Technical Center provides pretreatment, dyeing, printing and finishing services from fiber to fiber and, application to application. International and regional experts, together with support staff, will deliver high-value services for customers in Asia and China in particular. The list of application tests includes pad-dry-pad-steam for both pretreatment & dyeing, printing applications such as pigment to reactive printing & discharge, garment finishing, paste & foam coating etc.

The regional training center provides technical training for customers, based on the latest global know-how, in the effective application of products and/or process systems. It also serves as a forum for experience sharing amongst Ciba’s global experts and it’s customers.

In the view of Armin Meyer: “The addition of the Panyu production plant will give us additional flexibility in meeting the demands of our customers in Asia. The new Regional Technical Centre will provide the platform for us to supply integrated solutions combining products and services which will help our customers to manage process costs and enhance competitiveness.”
