TotalFinaElf strengthens its position in liquefied petroleum gas in China
TotalFinaElf and China Merchants have concluded a new agreement to combine their liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) activities along the Yangtze River (China). This agreement is subject to the approval of the Chinese authorities.
With an expected volume of around 200,000 tonnes in 2002, this partnership will be the largest LPG distributor in this promising region.
TotalFinaElf and China Merchants are already LPG partners in a joint-venture created in 1996, located in Yantai City, in the Shandong (East of China).
China is one of the major development areas for the distribution of oil products for TotalFinaElf in Asia. The Group is notably present in China’s refining sector through its 20% interest in the Dalian refinery.
