Borealis A/S, Ashland Plastics-Europe extend Distribution Agreement
The distribution relationship began in 1996, when Ashland obtained the rights to distribute Borealis-produced polyolefins throughout Western Europe. Under that agreement, Ashland Plastics-Europe has provided local sales and service to thousands of small- and medium-sized plastic processors in 18 countries. Processors' benefits from this arrangement include the ability to obtain a full range of products, quick delivery and service - all from one local source.
Notable changes have been implemented to improve the performance of the alliance. These improvements include centralization and automation of transactional processes and improved alignment of marketing activities. The future focus will be extending the capability to create value including the introduction of Borstar® PE and PP products.
"Ashland Plastics has proven to be a very effective channel to market for us," said Kent B. Abbås, Vice President of Borealis' Polypropylene Business Unit. "Ashland has operations in all of the important markets of Western Europe and has worked closely with us to help us better serve our smaller customers."
Frank L. "Hank" Waters, President of Ashland Distribution Company, said, "We have had five great years with Borealis, and are very pleased that our relationship will continue. We believe that we bring significant value to both producers and smaller processors by providing local sales coverage, technical service and application-development support. It is gratifying to have that confirmed by a market leader like Borealis."
