Dow Selects Rohrleitungs-und Anlagenbau GmbH As Contractor For Pipeline in Germany
Located in Leipzig, Germany, RAB is part of the Dutch-based Koop Group. RAB was previously involved in building a naphtha pipeline from Rostock, Germany, to Dow's hydrocarbon cracker in Böhlen, Germany; and also participated in building various pipelines connecting Dow's Böhlen and Schkopau, Germany, sites.
"RAB was selected out of 12 contracting firms and has sufficient in-house capability to take on the complete project," says Thijs Siermann, business development manager for Dow's Hydrocarbons & Energy business in Germany. "The regional expertise that is available in their local team will be key in implementing this project on- time."
Construction is scheduled to start this summer and expected to last approximately one year. The new pipeline will provide access to the deep-sea cargo ethylene market for Dow's Central Germany previously landlocked site, further enhancing its operational flexibility. In addition to connecting two major Dow sites, the pipeline will ultimately link Dow's salt dome storage caverns in Teutschenthal, near Schkopau, and Ohrensen, near Stade. The bi- directional pipeline will be capable of transporting ethylene and propylene.
