Braskem wins international award in ecoefficiency

12-Feb-2009 - Brazil

Braskem won the ROE (Return on Environment) Leadership Award for the third time. It recognizes companies that focus on environmental improvements tied to operational performance. The award is offered by GE Infrastructure - Water and Process Technologies.

Braskem earned the distinction by standing out from among GE clients in relation to projects that balance current environmental, industrial and sustainability challenges. Programs of this nature bring positive returns to neighboring communities from an economic as well as environmental perspective. This recognition demonstrates it is possible to increase operational efficiency and preserve natural resource simultaneously so long as there is a planned action and commitment to sustainable development.

"What this award represents is very special for everyone at Braskem, first because it comes from a company recognized for its excellence and high degree of demand, such as GE, and because it is a sign of all the engagement, commitment and creativity of our teams with regard to sustainability and the use of clean technologies, respect for the environment and the creation of value," says Celso Ferreira, Braskem’s Basic Petrochemical Industrial Director - Bahia.
