Thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) combine the processing advantages of plastics with the elastic properties of rubber. TPE tubing offers an exceptional combination of high abrasion resistance, wear resistance and remarkable elasticity, making them ideal for demanding industrial applications.
Material-Specific Properties
TPE tubing is characterized by pronounced swelling resistance to aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons as well as oils. Shore hardness varies depending on the application between 40° Shore A for food applications and 63° Shore D for chemical applications. The temperature range extends from -40°C to +120°C, with short-term loads up to +160°C possible.
Application Areas and Approvals
As FDA and BfR compliant materials, TPE tubing meets the requirements of the European Pharmacopoeia. They are excellent as pressure tubing and vacuum tubing in pneumatics and hydraulics with operating pressures from 8 to 20 bar. The kink-resistant properties and the elongation at break of 500% according to ISO 815B ensure reliable performance even under mechanical stress.
