The newly developed SweetSep AEX columns for High Performance Anion Exchange Chromatography (HPAEC) with Pulsed Amperometric Detection (PAD) allow for rapid, high-resolution separations of carbohydrates of a wide variety. The ALEXYS Carbohydrate Analyzer from Antec Scientific is a metal-free HPLC system optimized for HPAEC-PAD. The electrochemical flow cell (SenCell) has a high pH resistant, maintenance free HyREF reference electrode. It uses solid gold working electrodes with long lifetime and therefore is the most robust solution in the market. The ET210 eluent tray degassing kit for carbonate free mobile phase assures most stable and sensitive analysis conditions. Applications are available for carbohydrates in food, beverages, biomass and plants, lactose free products and others.
Detection limits as low as 10 nmol/L can be obtained.
HPAEC is considered an environmentally sustainable (“green”) chromatographic technique, as its mobile phase utilizes non-toxic aqueous solutions of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and sodium acetate (NaOAc), eliminating the need for environmentally restrictive solvents.
