in Food & Beverages and cosmetics
Aluminum-coated PET membranes are specially designed for the reliable analysis of micro- and nanoparticles in food, cosmetics, and environmental samples. They help laboratories to reliably detect particles, clearly identify them, and document results in a reproducible manner. The focus is not only on technical performance, but above all on a stable, efficient, and traceable analysis process.
The reflective aluminum layer creates optimal optical conditions for microscopic and spectroscopic evaluation. Particles stand out clearly against the smooth membrane surface, which makes them much easier to find and classify. At the same time, the low autofluorescence of the coating reduces interfering background signals. Spectra remain clearly defined, overlaps are minimized, and even very small or faint particles can be evaluated more reliably. For users, this means greater data security and less time-consuming remeasurements.
The flat, homogeneously structured PET surface ensures even particle distribution and supports automated analysis processes. This allows measurement fields to be recorded consistently and evaluation processes to be accelerated. Even during longer filtration processes in liquid media, the membranes retain their dimensional stability. This increases process reliability, reduces the risk of damage, and ensures reliable sample processing, even with larger volumes.
Thanks to their versatility, the membranes can be easily integrated into existing laboratory workflows. They are compatible with common microscopic and spectroscopic methods, enabling flexible analysis strategies without additional material changes. For convenient handling, they can be optionally equipped with a stabilizing aluminum ring, which offers additional safety, especially during vacuum filtration.
Available in diameters from 13 to 47 millimeters and pore sizes from 0.8 to 5 micrometers, the membranes cover a wide range of applications. Customized configurations are possible, allowing for precise adaptation to specific requirements. At the same time, aluminum-coated PET membranes offer an economically attractive alternative to comparable solutions with precious metal coatings. They combine high analytical significance with efficient use of resources and help laboratories balance quality requirements and cost awareness.
