The Rotavapor R-180 from BUCHI is designed for laboratories that need reliable daily evaporation without compromising on ease of use or safety. With a flask capacity of up to 3 liters, the system handles medium sample throughputs and is positioned between entry-level models and complex high-end systems. Whether in chemical synthesis, pharmaceutical development, food or environmental analysis, the R-180 provides a robust, cost-effective platform for routine operations.

Operation is managed through a central interface with navigation control. Heating bath temperature, rotation speed and coolant temperature can be monitored at a glance and adjusted with precision. In practice, this means less training time for new staff and fewer operating errors during daily use. The wireless heating bath detaches easily from the unit for filling and draining and can be transported separately. Laboratories with limited space benefit from the system's flexible positioning at an angle of up to 90 degrees. This allows the Rotavapor to fit into tight setups without sacrificing accessibility. The rotating control unit ensures that all parameters remain within reach at all times, regardless of how the instrument is oriented on the bench.

When it comes to safety, the R-180 relies on well-designed automation. In the event of a power failure, the electric lift mechanism automatically raises the flask out of the heating bath. This protects sensitive samples from uncontrolled overheating and prevents costly sample losses. Safety-coated glass components ensure that no splinters or sample material escape uncontrollably in the event of accidental glass breakage. For demanding laboratory environments, the instrument is protected against water splashes, so the electronics operate reliably even under intensive use. The multifunctional combination clip with snap closure allows the evaporating flask to be attached with one hand. This may seem like a small detail, but it noticeably speeds up flask changes, especially when processing many samples in succession.

A key argument in favor of the R-180 is its low operating cost. BUCHI has developed a do-it-yourself service concept that enables laboratory teams to carry out routine maintenance independently on site. This reduces downtime and makes the laboratory less dependent on external service appointments. Cable and tubing routing on the back of the instrument keeps the workspace tidy and minimizes trip hazards. To expand the system, the I-180 control unit and the chemical-resistant V-180 vacuum pump integrate seamlessly and further automate evaporation processes.
