ABB wins $34 million power order in India

ABB has won a $34 million order from Power Transmission Corporation of Uttarakhand Ltd, for three substations to strengthen the northern Indian region's transmission grid and help deliver clean hydropower to communities in the area.

ABB will design, supply, install and commission the substations, rated at 132 kV (kilovolts), 220 kV and 400 kV respectively, as well as transformers and other major power equipment.

The substations are scheduled for completion in 2011, and will help meet growing demand for electricity with renewable power sources, supporting sustainable economic development in the region.
