SPECTRO Announces the receipt of a multi-million dollar order

17-Sep-2002

August 12, 2002 - SPECTRO announces the receipt of a multi-million dollar order from its strategic partner, Rigaku Corporation. The order, for 65 SPECTRO CIROS ICP and SPECTRO XEPOS XRF spectrometers, is for delivery and distribution to Japan within the coming months.

"This is the second volume order that Rigaku has placed with SPECTRO and it strengthens our belief that we have the right products for the very demanding Japanese market," commented SPECTRO's CEO, Tom Blades.

On SPECTRO's future performance he added, "The magnitude of this order coupled with a slow but sure pick up from other regions indicates that the macro economic cycle appears to have moved off bottom, yet we remain cautious in our outlook. We are still feeling the effects of the down cycle but fortunately we reacted faster than many of our industry peers allowing us to remain focused on our product road map without sacrificing core competencies. We are convinced that we can capitalize these efforts into increased market share as the economy picks up and are confident in achieving our financial targets for this year."

SPECTRO and Rigaku, the leading Japanese manufacturer of Wavelength Dispersive XRF spectrometers, began their strategic alliance in November of 1998. Since the original agreement for the distribution of the SPECTRO ICP spectrometers, the agreement has since been extended to include SPECTRO's line of Polarized Energy Dispersive XRF spectrometers.
