Alphacan plans to dispose of its polyethylene activities for optical fibre applications

he Elf Atochem subsidiary Alphacan has signed a draft agreement with Novoplastic for the disposal of its polyethylene pipe production facilities in Roncq (Northern France) together with its goodwill for polyethylene sheathing used in the protection of underground optical fibre telecommunications networks.

Under the terms of the proposed agreement, Alphacan will retain its other polyethylene pipe activities, in particular for gas and water transportation and for the protection of electric cables.

Novoplastic will preserve all 50 jobs in Roncq.

The project will come into force as soon as approval has been received from the relevant authorities.
