09-Apr-2001

Roche announces the inauguration of a new plant at Deinze (Belgium). This site is dedicated to the manufacture of vitamin premixes that are included in petfoods. The state-of-the-art manufacturing facility has been designed to meet the high standards of petfood manufacturers in terms of quality, safety and manufacturing practices. With an annual production capacity of around 8.000 tons of premix, the new plant will supply petfood manufacturers throughout Europe.

The change in the status of pets in today’s societies has resulted in a change in attitudes to pet nutrition. Currently the world retail market for petfoods is estimated to be in the range of 25 billion USD with important future growth potential.

As the world’s leading supplier of vitamins, Roche has extensive experience in animal nutrition and health. Roche works on the concept of ‘Optimum Vitamin Nutrition’. Optimum Vitamin Nutrition means that the various vitamins should be provided to the animal in a well-balanced composition within the diet to support the essential functions of the body.

With its extraordinary expertise on the application of vitamins, Roche can provide petfood manufacturers with leading-edge support and services, and is therefore the vitamin supplier of choice. The inauguration of this new plant reflects Roche's commitment to this area.
