Matheson Tri-Gas, Inc. announces air separation plant upgrade

10-Jun-2003
Matheson Tri-gas, Inc., announces the expansion and modernization of its Stafford Texas air separation facility. The expansion project included increased capacity of 150 TPD of liquid products and the modernization of the computer control system allowing more efficient operation. On-site construction began in September 2002, and the plant was completed and on-line April 2003. The Matheson Tri-Gas, Inc., Stafford Facility produces high purity grade liquid oxygen, liquid nitrogen, and liquid argon. The upgrade and modernization was engineered and constructed by Nippon Sanso Corporation, the parent company of Matheson Tri-Gas, Inc. Since its inception in 1987, the Industrial Gas Group of Matheson Tri-Gas, Inc., (f/k/a Tri-Gas) has operated two air separation facilities in the South Texas market with older style plants. "The upgrade of this facility will allow Matheson Tri-Gas, Inc., to serve the majority of its present South Texas market from the Stafford facility at more efficient operating costs. We can intermittently operate the older Pasadena facility as required by market conditions," says Norman Frable, VP Atmospheric gases Division, Matheson Tri-Gas, Inc. Matheson Tri-Gas, Inc., will continue expansions late this summer at the Stafford facility to include a central logistics center for the South Texas markets. Matheson Tri-Gas, Inc., operates a total of six air separation plants throughout Texas, New Mexico and Florida.
