SciQuest Releases EMAX Substance Manager Software to Accelerate Drug Discovery for Pharmaceutical and Biotech Industries

08-May-2001

SciQuest (NASDAQ:SQST), a technology and solutions company that provides integrated e-commerce and research asset management solutions for research enterprises and their supply chain partners worldwide, today announced the 5.0 release of the Java-based EMAX Substance Manager (ESM), a fully scalable, enterprise wide software solution for drug discovery, compound management, requisitioning and fulfillment processes for the research organization.

"This is an exciting time for our company. In conjunction with a number of our customers, our team has worked hard to leverage the expertise we have developed through implementing earlier versions of ESM at multiple large pharmaceutical companies. This experience has enabled us to design ESM 5.0 for maximum configurability, scalability and performance within high throughput research operations. We've also developed innovative technology that provides a very powerful user experience within a thin client environment that supports the global realities of today's research organizations," said Thomas Russell, Senior Product Director.

EMAX Substance Manger is an integrated compound and plate management solution designed to speed the discovery process by providing researchers with a global knowledge base and tools to manage the entire life cycle of proprietary compounds used in drug discovery operations. By integrating the global flow of information and research materials across a wide variety of robotics and discovery automation equipment, EMAX Substance Manager helps discovery organizations optimize the productivity of their people, materials, equipment, and facilities.

"Aventis selected ESM 5.0 as its global compound logistics solution because it solves a critical business problem faced by large and small bio-pharma companies and because the capabilities and architecture of the product are solid. We are very pleased that development of the product is complete and we can begin realizing our investment as quickly as possible," said Peter Loupos, Vice-President DI&A Information Solutions, Aventis.

"We share the excitement that ESM 5.0 is generating among our customers and prospects. ESM 5.0 is another example of SciQuest's ongoing commitment to offer enterprise-level and domain-specific solutions that help scientific organizations enhance their research capabilities," said Stephen J. Wiehe, CEO of SciQuest. "ESM 5.0 is a major step forward in our efforts to be the leading provider of research supply chain solutions to the global scientific marketplace."
