Bayer Diagnostics looks to eastern Europe

30-May-2001

Bayer is one of the main sponsors of the 14th European Congress of the IFCC (International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine), which will be taking place from May 27-31 in Prague. As Europe's third largest supplier of diagnostic systems, Bayer will provide information on its newest developments in the fields of immunology, integrated solutions, clinical chemistry, hematology, NAD and point-of-care testing.

About 2,000 specialists in laboratory medicine and technicians from 65 countries will be taking part in the congress. "We hope the fact that the event is being held in Prague will allow us to further access the eastern European market," said Chris Tobin, head of the Europe Region in Bayer's Diagnostics Business Group. "With our wide product range, we can respond individually to the various needs of laboratories. That's why we want to use the IFCC Congress as an opportunity for open discussion with customers – which will enable us to develop our systems, tests and software even closer to the market." Under the slogan "Bayer Dialogue", users will report on their experiences with specific diagnostic issues.

With satellite symposia on point-of-care testing and allergies, Bayer will offer an outlook on future possibilities in diagnostics. The experts' presentations on pharmacogenomics will illustrate the link between diagnostics and tomorrow's therapies.
