King of Prussia, November 9, 2000 -
Aventis Behring L.L.C.
today launched Aventis Behring Choice, a national
initiative designed to redirect the emerging competitive
landscape - from managing product supply and
distribution for people who live with chronic bleeding
disorders - to one which more fully considers the
spectrum of product, educational and resource needs
of patients and healthcare professionals. Unveiled at
the annual meeting of the National
hemophilia
Foundation, AB Choice programs are fully available to
the entire bleeding disorders community, regardless of
product prescribed, provider choice or patient insurance
status - a bold contrast to some of the more restricted
initiatives recently launched.
"As an organization, we felt it was critical to remove
ourselves from the pressures of the competitive
environment as much as possible. Instead, we had
extensive internal discussions about how to meet our
corporate objectives, one which has always included
respecting the voice of the bleeding disorders
community," said Alain Delongchamp, Vice President,
General Manager North America. "Once we
accomplished this, the premise of AB Choice was born -
we determined that the best way to support the care
provided by hemophilia treatment centers was to
recognize what healthcare professionals recognize
everyday: each patient is unique."
AB Choice: Customized
services for the Entire
Community
Aventis Behring Choice is the only healthcare initiative
in the nation designed to provide customized access to
resources and educational services for members of the
bleeding disorders community, regardless of product
prescribed, provider distribution method or insurance status.
The four pillars that form the foundation of AB Choice
have been created with one goal in mind: to enhance
and strengthen the partnership between patients and
the healthcare professionals who treat them by
providing meaningful services that improve quality of
life.
The pillars of AB Choice include:
1.Open Distribution. Patients using Aventis Behring
products can access them through Aventis
Behring Choice providers (Aventis Behring is in
the process of interviewing potential AB Choice
providers), PHS centers, hospitals, or home
care. Products are and will remain available to
any provider patients are currently using.
2.Customized Support Services. A wide variety of
patient support services, which will include
quality of life grants, a secure on-line
community, and individualized disease
information.
3.Patient Ed
