Vik Narasimhan Joins Thermo Electron to Lead Life Sciences Strategy and Business Development

Thermo Electron Corporation announced that Vik Narasimhan has joined the company as Director of Strategy and business development for its Life and Laboratory Sciences group. In this role, Narasimhan will drive Thermo's global business strategy and business development activities in Life and Laboratory Sciences, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and alliances.

"Vik has a unique combination of proven scientific, business, and financial skills that make him a strong addition to our team. His deep knowledge and extensive experience in the life sciences industry will help Thermo capitalize on opportunities that further expand the scope and reach of offerings to customers. He will play a critical role in leading our efforts to make Thermo the partner of choice across the life sciences industry."

An industry veteran, Narasimhan was most recently Vice President of Healthcare Banking for Goldman Sachs, where he led the Global Life Sciences Tools and Technologies Practice. Narasimhan has also held positions in investment banking at Merrill Lynch and the health care practice at McKinsey & Company. He has advised clients in the life sciences tools, pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical devices industries on a variety of strategic issues, landmark transactions, and financings.

Narasimhan received an Integrated Master's in Physics and Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Cornell University. He has been a Research Fellow at MIT and Harvard, and is an Advisor to the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative.
