NOVA Chemicals' year-end results show strength

11-Apr-2005

NOVA Chemicals' President and Chief Executive Officer, Jeffrey M. Lipton, reported at the company's annual shareholder meeting that NOVA Chemicals' earnings rose to U.S. $252 million in 2004 after three years of losses. In 2004, NOVA Chemicals' operated businesses earned U.S. $186 million, a year-over-year U.S. $295 million improvement from 2003.

"We are proud of the business results and value we delivered to shareholders in 2004," said Lipton. "We expect to see continued strong demand for our products and constrained supply in 2005 and beyond. Because of our operating leverage, advantaged cost position, share buybacks and important new performance products, we are excited about our potential to continue to outperform expectations for our investors."
