Ciba specialty chemicals, the leading global supplier of plastic additives, launches a new business: Expert services. Expert Services will commercially provide knowledge based services and solutions for the global polymer industry.

Next to Additive Services, focusing on pre-blending and incorporation technology, Expert Services represents another step to meeting the needs of the polymer industry. By offering Regulatory Services, Ciba wants to help all companies in the plastics industry with concerns or issues related to regulatory compliance. This service delivers a global expertise through an international network of experts and scientists located in key countries.

Safety Services

There is an increasing awareness related to safety issues. This service provides safety testing and expert advice on the safe handling of chemicals.

Laboratory Services

Small and medium sized companies require access to the appropriate testing equipment, methods and interpretation of the results. Typical services offered include polymer determination and characterization, polymer performance testing and evaluation of degradation, analytical support and development of new testing / screening methods. Laboratory Services are supported by a large group of experts in the various application fields of plastics as well as specialists in analytical techniques.

Educational Services

This program is specially designed to provide educational support to those involved in the polymer industry. Expert Services will offer a broad range of seminars, training programs and workshops in various fields such as polymer science, polymer stabilization, product safety and regulation and project design.

Initially these four services will be offered in the NAFTA and European markets, and will be made available globally by mid-2002. Expert Services will ultimately offer a comprehensive portfolio of knowledge-based services to the polymer industry.
