BASF Business Unit Performance Chemicals for Coatings, Plastics and Specialties under new leadership

On 1 April 2002, Dr Gerd Löbbert will take over, as Group Vice President, the Global Business Unit Performance chemicals for coatings, Plastics and Specialties, BASF Aktiengesellschaft, Ludwigshafen.

Born in Wuppertal, Germany, Dr Löbbert (44) began his professional career on 1 April 1986, when he joined the Technical Marketing Web Offset group of BASF Lacke + Farben AG in Stuttgart. Three years later he switched to BASF Aktiengesellschaft, Ludwigshafen, where he was initially involved in the development group for organic pigments and later assistant manager of the rhodamine factory.

In 1992 he moved to the USA, where he headed Technical Marketing Pigments & Printing Inks North America at BASF Corporation in Holland, Michigan. On his return to BASF Lacke + Farben AG, Stuttgart, in 1995, he took charge of Technology Coordination Printing Inks. This position was followed in 1996 by management of the Marketing Web Offset group. Since 1997 Dr Löbbert has been Vice President of Printing Inks for Print Media in the company now known as BASF Printing Systems GmbH.

Jacques Delmoitiez, the current head of Business Unit Performance Chemicals for Coatings, Plastics and Specialties, will assume new management responsibilities within the BASF Group.
