Flow indicators enable precise visualization and measurement of smallest flow quantities in laboratory and industrial applications. These flow meters visualize fluid movements through mechanical display elements and offer different application possibilities depending on the material.

Plastic Flow Indicators for Laboratory Applications

Flow indicators made of polystyrene (PS), styrene-acrylonitrile copolymers (SAN) or polymethylpentene (TPX) are suitable for flow measurements at low volume flows. The devices equipped with hose barbs on both sides measure flow velocities from 5 ml/s to 95 ml/s. PS and SAN versions operate in cooling circuits up to +30 °C at 2 bar, while TPX variants are suitable for inorganic and organic media up to +60 °C at 2 bar. The impeller movement or visible ball flow indicates the flow quantitatively.

Metal Flow Indicators for Higher Flow Rates

Flow indicators made of brass and stainless steel 1.4571 monitor larger volume flows in process industry. With nominal diameters from 8 mm to 40 mm, they achieve maximum flow rates from 4 l/min to 100 l/min. The visible rotor rotates proportionally to flow and enables direct flow indication. Pendulum flow indicators made of brass feature a pointer mechanism with 270° pointer stop and operate at pressures up to 16 bar static or 6 bar dynamic.

Material-Specific Properties

PS shows resistance to alcohols, weak acids and aqueous salt solutions. TPX resists alcohols, acids and alkalis, while brass as a copper-zinc alloy is resistant to hydrocarbons, oils and gases. Stainless steel 1.4571 offers highest corrosion resistance to organic solvents, acids and oils.
