Nutrition 21 and Rutherford Chemicals Announce Long Term Supply Agreement

PURCHASE, N.Y. July 31, 2002 - Nutrition 21, Inc, a leading developer and marketer of nutrition products formulated with chromium and other trace minerals, is pleased to announce that it has entered into a three-year exclusive supply agreement for the manufacture of its Chromax(R) chromium picolinate with Nepcam Inc., a subsidiary of Nepera, Inc., Harriman, New York, a Rutherford chemicals Company. "Nutrition 21 is extremely pleased to continue its working relationship with Nepcam," said Gail Montgomery, President and CEO of Nutrition 21. "The estimated $17 billion US functional food market is growing at double digit rates and with the recent approval of Chromax as safe for use in foods, Nutrition 21 anticipates an increasing demand for chromium picolinate across a wide range of products.
