Preliminary registration report: analytica 2012 on the road to success

29-Sep-2011 - Germany

It is still six months before the beginning of the fair, and analytica is already boasting some impressive, possibly record-breaking preliminary results: A total of 633 exhibitors have already registered for the fair (compared to 586 in 2009). As a result, the International Trade Fair for Laboratory Technology, Analysis and biotechnology currently has eight percent more registered visitors than it did at this same point the last time that the fair was held. Several German and international industry leaders have registered to participate in the fair including important key players such as Agilent Technologies, QIAGEN and Waldner Laboreinrichtungen. In addition, the analytica Conference and an extensive program of related events will ensure additional dialog as well as the transfer of know-how within the industry. The events at the 2012 fair will focus on topics such as acute diagnostics and clinical metabolomics. The 23rd analytica is being held at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre from April 17-20, 2012.

“These positive interim results surpass the results from the last time this event was held,” explains Norbert Bargmann, Deputy CEO of Messe München GmbH. “This strong response demonstrates the trust that the industry places in analytica. We are collaborating with the industry to further develop our successful concept and reach new visitor target groups with new ideas.” As the industry association SPECTARIS announced at its autumn gathering in early September, the fact that interest is so high reflects the industry’s optimism for the coming year. “Most companies are looking optimistically into the future. Given the way that business is currently developing, they appear to be right. I assume that the industry will continue its growth trend of the past few years both in 2011 and again in 2012, provided that growth is not stifled by problems in the financial world again,” said Mathis Kuchejda, Chairman of the SPECTARIS association for Analytical, Bio- and Laboratory Technology. According to a recent survey by the trade association, German manufacturers of analysis technology, biotechnology and laboratory technology expect sales to increase by an average of six percent during this year – which means that the current increase in registrations for analytica are even higher than growth in the industry. Foreign business in particular is also expected to have a positive impact.

According to Susanne Grödl, analytica’s Exhibition Director, confirmations that have not yet been received will ensure additional growth in the number of exhibitors at the 2012 fair. “Experience has shown that the second wave of registrations, which among other things includes several biotechnology companies, comes at the end of year. We also expect a sizeable increase in registrations from countries other than Germany.” A total of 437 German manufacturers and 196 international manufacturers are currently registered for the fair.

Registered companies include a number of German and international industry leaders such as Analytik Jena, Becton Dickinson, Eppendorf, Fisher Scientific, Gilson International, GE Healthcare, Merck Millipore, Miele, Olympus Deutschland, Shimadzu Deutschland, Sigma-Aldrich, Thermo Scientific und Waters. An initial list of all exhibitors registered to date is available online.

analytica Conference

Thanks to the three-day analytica Conference, the international trade fair will once again bridge the gap between science and industry. The scientific conference is being organized by Forum Analytik, which consists of Germany’s three leading scientific associations, i.e. GDCh (German Chemical Society), GBM (German Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology) and DGKL (German Society for Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine). Renowned scientists from around the world will discuss the latest developments, current trends and future technologies. The topics being covered during the three-day conference range from new spectroscopy techniques for chemical analysis to challenges in separation and analysis techniques and analyzing bioactive compounds.

Related-events program

All four days of the exhibition will be rounded out by an extensive and informative program of related events. Discussions and best-practice presentations from industry representatives are on the agenda at the Laboratory & Analytics Forum and the Biotech Forum. On the last day of the fair, company founders and entrepreneurs from the life-sciences sector will receive information about subsidies and financing alternatives. In addition, Job Day will bring companies together with qualified potential employees.
